Kauai Island Mileage and Travel Times
While our island is almost circular, (approximately 25 miles wide and 33 miles long) the Napali coastline prohibits construction of roads from the north shore to the west side, so driving times from one end of the island (Ke'e Beach on the northshore) to the west side (Polihale Beach) will take roughly 2 hours 50 minutes and be about 78 miles.

From the Airport traveling  NORTH:

Lihue 1 mile, 3 minutes
Wailua 7 miles, 15 minutes
Kapaa 10  miles, 20 minutes
Anahola 15 miles, 30 minutes
Kilauea 26 miles, 45  minutes
Princeville 30 miles, 1 hour
Haena 38 miles, 1 hour 15  minutes
Ke'e State Beach 39 miles, 1 hour 20 minutes

Traveling  north you will be crossing several one-lane bridges.  The "unspoken  bridge rules" are:

When two cars approach the  white line from  either end, the one that gets there first goes.  If there is a  line of cars,  only 5 cars should go at one time and then let the other side go.    Don't crowd yourself in as the 6th  car--it's not cool!  It's  nice to acknowledge the driver that stopped  for you with a "shaka"--(a friendly  wave).
